It was reported in an article in the AIS Bulletin that at one time Neva
Sexton worked in the cotton fields to earn money to buy irises. It is
probable that chemicals were used on the cotton crop, and that if Neva
suffered from toxicity related health problems this seems a more likely
source than iris pollen.
