If we get something good from a cross, we repeat the original and try
variations of it. If there is a problem, ie lack of vigor but everything
else is an improvement we then outcross, intercross, cross with best
available iris (parentage doesn't matter as long as we know what it
produces). So I guess that means we do 1 - 5 but not 6. If you have
something good going and if you have the room, don't compost it, use it and
then use it again. You will eventually get what you are after, unless it is
red that you are after. :-(
