Walter
I'm in a zone 8, I've just bought Baboon Bottom and Blue Suede Shoes, So
I'll watch them. However I have had Frosting for several years. It tends to
flower a bit short but has masses of bloom, both in the neglected and tended
part of the garden. It is very late, usually one of the very last to bloom.
I think it's pretty. Have you tried feeding your recalitrants a bit more
potassium and maybe phosphorus so their roots get a bit more vigourous. I'd
avoid any nitrogen. BTW our pH is 6.1. I know a number of irises that vary
their flowering quite a bit according to pH and soil type.
