Hi all,
On my way to visit my mother, on mothers day, I spotted a small country
market, with a plant stall, and couldn't help myself. Well this chap had
heaps of irises and unusual bulbs. His TB's were the usual assortment of
wrongly named plants. I knew this by their names. The all came from a
certain nursery, who just guessed the names of their irises by the colour.
How they managed to name a dark blue and white plicata BABBLING BROOK, is
anybody's guess, but I would have a hard time convincing anyone around this
area, that the real thing is a pale blue self.
Anyhow ..... I ended up buying 3 plants labelled:
I. Foetidissima (yellow),
I. foetidissima (blue) and
I. foetidissima (vareigated).
I didn't know there was a variegated form. At least I can see that the
leaves are vareigated, but am a bit concerned that it might be pallida, or
even pseudocorus. I shall have more idea when and if it blooms.
I also didn't know there was a blue form. The photo showed a pale cream and
soft blue flower.
Anyone know if all these variations have different coloured berries?
Cheers, Jan Clark
