I read Partick's original letter with the Houdini and Arizona Warrior request
and got to thinking about a request that I also have so thought there is no
time like the present to post it. :) Sorry Patrick, I do have Houdini but I
don't have enough of it yet to share with you. Never heard of Arizona
Warrior! If you still need Houdini next year remember my email address, I
will most likely have enough that I can send you a start.
I bought Maryott's Pure As Gold three years ago and it died on me the
following spring. I have done the same thing each year, bought Pure As Gold
only to have it die on me in the spring. Bill Maryott sent me Pure As Gold
last summer (totally free of any charge) and I planted it in a pot, placed it
in a sheltered location and more or less babied this iris only to have it die
on me again this last spring!
I have talked with Bill about my problem with this very good growing iris and
he and I have decided that I probably need to buy Pure As Gold from someone
here in the midwest instead of importing it from the west coast. Does anyone
on Iris-Talk know of any garden in the midwest that carries Pure As Gold or
does anyone on Iris-Talk, who is located in the midwest, grow this iris that
might be willing to sell me a start.
Normally Linda and I are only willing to give an iris three chances, if it
doesn't make it after the third chance then we don't give it another chance.
However, I want this iris and I am not yet willing to give up on it! :) By
the way, I am in zone 6.
