Our weather report said there was a band of major storms extending in a
swath from Oklahoma to North Carolina - probably the eastward path of the
same storm system that hit here on Thursday juiced up with fresh moisture
from the Gulf. There was another minor tornado in Salt Lake City Thursday
evening that took off part of the roof of the Garden Center where the Utah
Iris Society Show was held yesterday. That makes two tornadoes down there
in less than a year - the natives are beginning to get a bit nervous. We
just had pelting rain and wind here, but it made it hard to find decent
stalks to take to the show yesterday.

Hope that the results of the free, natural landscaping service are not too
disastrous for you.
I assume your irises survived, unless those detached tree limbs landed
right on top of them.

I don't have a basement either, but it probably wouldn't be much use in an
earthquake, which is still a more likely event here than a tornado.

Regards,

Jeff Walters
