Re: CAT: Suttons' catalog & Bloom report Gr'ma's Iris

Dear Annette, I wonder if your grandmother's iris could be one I have which
was a favorite of the Harps who founded our Iris Society (Francis Scott Key).
It is also peach - which is a rare color, I think. The name is HELEN LOUISE
amd it was hybridized by Lapham and registered in the '50s. They gave me a
piece and I am always afraid of losing it like I lost Foote's pink iris
MT.COOK A' DAWNING which I still want! I would love to have a piece of your
grandmother's - in that way maybe I can see whether it is HELEN LOUISE!
My Catalog from Sutton hasn;t come either -- Hope you are coming to National
in York? ! Spring has finally sprung here - into summer during the day, down
in the 40s at night, but irises are pregnant, so there should be plenty of
bloom. The SDBs are going strong now.Rosalie nr Baltimore (and the
convention - but not one ofthe tour gardens this year, but stop by with
notice!) Zone 7 ryfigge@aol.com
