Patricia Brooks was seeking pinks for breeding without tangerine beards.
Ghio's 2000 Society Page opened on Sunday: a light, creamy pink with whiter
fall centers and a coral-pink blush across the midribs of the standards.
Beards are almost nonexistent; a few hairs deep in the throat matching the
fall color. The form is excellent, flaring with ruffled edges and tightly
closed standards. Heaviest substance and massive (though a bit shorter than
average) stalk. Foliage on the stalk is perhaps a bit more coarse than I
would consider perfect. Three perfect flowers are open today.
My garden bloom is fading a bit with uppper 80's weather taking over. Cloud
Ballet and Larry Gaulter are putting on the best show right now, but a rare
44" stalk of Cascade Springs (not a good performer for me) is looking its
awesome best!
Just planted nine rosebushes. I love Black Magic, Tropical Sunset, and
Crimson Bouquet best.
