I'm noticing that digital photos--AND those scanned from prints--
sometimes render blossoms more blue than they are. Always before
with the Kodak products my complaint was that "blue" iris
photographed violet (even though they really were as much violet as
they were blue). Now perhaps the tide is reversed. Too blue to be
true?
I haven't seen a photo yet of VANDA SONG. If I can catch it when the
wind stops I may try getting a postable one--it genuinely is the most
BLUE colored iris I have ever seen. I was expecting it to be more
white than blue--and it's a stunningly beautiful ice blue. Closely
related to SKYWALKER, I think it may have the Schreiner star upstaged.
Better yet, it has pollen. SKYWALKER doesn't here, and is stubbornly
reluctant to set seed, even though it is know to do so on occasion.
Hopefully VANDA SONG will be not only fertile, but prolific as a
parent. It is noted to be a good one. Its parentage includes DARK
TOP type breeders so there may be potential especially in that
direction.
