It was a difficult process, but I learned to wear gloves when gardening . . .
most of the time. I didn't think I could do it, but, after sticking my hands
into 'gifts' left by neighboring animals and having discolored hands when I
had to be in public, I learned. I use the cheap brown cotton gloves, and
have gone through as many as a dozen pair in one year.
I've always had enough trees that I could clean irises in the shade. Working
in the early morning and late afternoon help. I'd also like to recommend
landscape fabric for those situations that lend themselves to it. Remember
to enlarge the holes as the clumps grow.
