CULT: Erwinia & Aspirin

Perhaps I shouldn't be doing this and this is not meant in any way to
disparage - but as a retired pharmacist with over 50 years experience I
can't let misinformation pass by. Salicylic Acid is NOT aspirin.
Salicylic acid is the active ingredient in wart removers, corn plasters,
bunion plasters and any other product that is used to burn off unwanted
skin growths. Salicylic acid - when reacted with glacial acetic acid (6
times the potency of household vinegar) - yields aspirin.
With my apologies to Jim if I have hurt his feelings.
