No, Buncombe--in the southwestern part. Henderson County starts just
a couple miles south of us.
I might add that with climate zones here, since we are in the
mountains, boundaries between zones are tortuously contorted.
Exposure, elevation and other factors that govern microclimate
variations change quickly in an area like ours. I have one cultivar
that has just STARTED blooming down at the north end of the property
here on a northern slope, while the very last blooms are now closing
on even the latest varieties in the south part--twenty-five feet
higher, but sloping gently south. Date of last frost/first frost is
substantially different for the two areas also.
