The Lincoln Iris Society in Lincoln, Nebraska held our early show about
10 days ago. Here are the results of that show. Hope they are of
interest. It was truly a median show.

Horticulture Division Entries: 174
Best Specimen of Show: won by Hubbub, a variegated (broken color)
Intermediate Bearded Iris shown by Allan Ensminger (and, also hybridized
by Allan Ensminger)
Best SDB: Cuban Cutie, shown by Eugene Kalkwarf
Best IB: Hubbub, shown by Allan Ensminger
Best Historic Iris: Eleanor Roosevelt, shown by Gary White
Best TB: Bountiful Harvest, shown by Bev Smith
Best Species: Iris cristata "Powder Blue Giant", shown by Gary White
Best in other (BBs and MTBs): Samantha Rose, shown by Opal Wulf
Best Seedling: 96-9, an IB hybridized and shown by Allan Ensminger
Best Arrangement: (Mother's Day theme) won by Bev Smith
Silver Medal (Most blue ribbons): won by Gary White (12 blue ribbons)
Bronze Medal (2nd most blue ribbons): won by Eugene Kalkwarf (9 blue
ribbons)
People's Choice Award (voted on by attendees at the show): Devil May

This was an interesting show because of the large numbers of Standard
Dwarf Beardeds shown (53), and even more amazing, the large number of
Intermediate Bearded irises shown (81). These are the highest numbers
of these 2 groups shown in Lincoln in recent years. There were also 15
Tall Beardeds, 7 Species, 4 MTBs, 2 BBs, 2 ABs, 1 MDB, 7 Historics, and
a few Collection entries.
Our second show is coming up this Saturday at Southeast Community
College in Lincoln, Nebraska. It will definitely be dominated by Tall
Beardeds, but there will also hopefully be a good number of MTBs, BBs,
Species, Historics, and Siberians shown. We are hoping for a good
turnout once again and would like to see another 200+ entry show. If
anyone is in the area (or wants to travel to our show), and wants more
information, please contact me offline for further info. By the way, we
were glad to meet Robin Shadlow at our show, and congratulations Robin,
on your accomplishments (hint, hint Robin, tell us what you won) at the
Greater Omaha Iris Society Show!!

Lincoln, Nebraska zone 5, though the very cool temps lately (and frost
in some areas 2 nights ago) would indicate zone 4. Needing rain, and
less wind (gusts to 35mph) - not good for tall stalks of Tall Bearded
irises, but most actually seem to be holding up pretty well.
