By definition, a chimera is an organism containing genetically different
tissues
formed by mutation. I believe the pictures posted last January by Mike
and I
are a somatic mutation. That is a mutation of tissue cell genes, rather
than sex
cell genes and most of the time won't reappear, that's probably why you
don't
see any listed for sale.
What Tom is referring to are Mike Suttons: Chimera#3A.jpg and
Mchimera1.jpg
these were photos posted to iris-photos 1/8/02
I also posted a couple of mine at the same time, messages #6418 & 6423
if anybody cares to look. The subject was Unknown Chimera
A simple description of these is half the fall is one color and the other
half is
another, split down the middle.
I have a spaceager chimera type that has repeated, but only on 1 flower
this
year.
