SDB: Ruby Eruption

This SDB made it to the AIS bulletin in January 2000.

At the time (02/08/00) I made the following comment:

 >>
The inside back cover shows Ruby Eruption (Chapman '97). It is the
correct form and the yellow is close, but the rest of the bloom is a
ruby colour, not the very dark blue-black shown.
<<

Wellllllll, Ruby Eruption has much more intense colour this year, if
that is possible. It bears a close resemblance to the photo in the
bulletin. Subtract the blue tinge in the photo (look hard) and there
you have it. Quite a plant.

This spring has been quite cool for an extended period of time. Only in
the last few days has the temperature moved towards the normal range.
Comments on a possible relationship?

The SDBs have really appreciated the change, it seems to be an even
better year for the MDBs and the SDBs than last.

(I selfed R-E three years ago and got the first blooms last year. Ten
of ten were IB height, and not short IBs either.)

Regards,

Sandy Ives in Ottawa (z4bish?)
