I have the Fuji FinePix 2800 (now replaced by the 3800).
It uses Smartmedia and 4 rechargeable batteries. A set
of batteries is good for about 100 shots. Takes great pictures,
has limited movie capability, but best of all has a 6x optical
zoom. That is equivalent to 228 mm in 35mm slr speak.
I think the 3800 is now around 400$. Simple to operate, more
than enough features for someone who doesn't want to
relearn making the wheel.
