I'm not the genetics expert, but SA appendages appear to be a dominant
characteristic. At least half of my seedlings from crosses involving one SA
parent have appendages, and I generally do not cross them into SA bloodlines
(too much of that Sky Hooks form in most of them for my taste).
The plant vigor sounds nice. If the form and substance of the flowers is
good, the color or pattern can always be improved by crosses easier than the
form. (Try to find a broken-color plant with nice, modern form.) If the
flower has poor form and substance, it may be easier to start over.

I have a question regarding hybridizing with good
plants that have flowers that are not as good. I have
a seedling that is a great plant (healthy, vigorous,
well porportioned, well branched, 11-15 well timed
buds) but flowers are not as good. Is it worth my time
to breed further with it? I would really like to keep
that bud count and branching. Also, it was from a SA
cross but does not have horns. Will horns show up in
the next generation if I crossed it with non horned
things? Thanks in advance.
