Chuck, last fall, you asked me to do pigment extractions on a HARVEST OF
MEMORIES X SEAKIST seedling that had greenish yellow looking standards,
lighter cream falls. Didn't have the heart to destroy any of it on
maiden bloom, but here's what I got today:
hot water - yellow (slightly greenish, but not as greenish as paraffin
oil)
hot water rinse
isopropyl alcohol - nothing in standards, faint pinkish tint from falls
(this surprised me until I remembered what SEAKIST looks like)
paraffin oil - greenish yellow
I also took another look at the ABBEY ROAD extractions from yesterday,
and there was crud in the bottom of the first extractions. So the murk
was a combination of emulsion and crud.
There is a distinct pinkish tone to the hot water extractions that I
didn't really notice yesterday. Not sure if it changed overnight, or if
it was there & with diferent light, I just didn't notice.
