Neil's discussion brought another question to mind for me.

Has anyone ever gotten genes from I. pumila or other dwarf Iris with sets 
of 8 chromosomes into lines of TBs?  It would seem to be quite the 
challenge just because of the incompatibility factors.  I know there are 
thousands of in-betweens (mostly SDBs, IBs, and even the wild 40 
chromosome and 44 chromosomes species and hybrids), but I've never really 
paid attention as to whether any such dwarf genetics has actually made it 
into TBs.
