Thanks Francelle.
Interesting that ROMANTIC EVENING is one of your best too.
Know what you mean about hoping for the best - I crossed NIGHT GAME X
WHO'S YOUR DADDY, hoping for NIGHT GAME'S excellent growth and bloom
here (zero pollen) and WHO'S excellent pollen (I think it finally died
this year). Got one surviving seedling that bloomed this year - tiny
little stalk with tiny little blooms on a sickly plant with no pollen.
I'm seriously considering trying to grow some of the superwide stuff
that doesn't like my climate in pots using Betty's formula and carting
them in and out of the house to see if I can get more pollen to work
with.
<Linda, I read your messages on Iris Talk about pollen donors. My best
ones are Pink Champagne, Amethyst Winter, Happenstance, Romantic Evening
and Lovely Dawn. This spring two new ones had
fertile pollen when it was very scarce. They were
Blyths Wearing Rubies and Ghios Act of Kindness. .... If only each
can
contribute its best qualities to its kids, not its
worst! Francelle Edwards Glendale, AZ Zone 9>
