IMMORTALITY babies?"
Hello Linda, I had mentioned in a previous posting
that I'd planted a dozen or so seedlings from
IMMORTALITY x SPARTAN, about ten years ago in a
hayfield. None of them were keepers based on their
appearance. However, I was very impressed recently,
with their will to survive, since some of them were
still alive, after ten years of absoulutely no care,
And so I had reconsidered their worth -- maybe they
need to be intercrossed and taken to another
generation. You had asked if I had any pictures. I
didn't think I did, but said that I would take some
next season -- that maybe they'd bloom after they had
been given a little care. Well, I noticed one bloom
stalk coming up out there yesterday and I'll try to
get you a picture when it opens.
Also, there were four or five stalks of pretty (but
pretty typical) pallida hybrids (cengialtii X pallida
'Variegated') blooming out there -- thumbing their
noses at the lack of care. ;0)
Gotta love those tough old pallidas!
