Hello,
George and Margaret are requesting information about cultural care of
reblooming iris in your area. This information will be passed on to the
Reblooming Iris Society at the AIS Convention in Portland.
This information will be very useful, as care differs from one growing area
to
another. We would all like to maximize our chances of getting our irises to
rebloom, and cultural care is a big part of what leads to success.
Thanks in advance.

In our hot, dry summers in Missouri, Zone 5-6, it is very important that the
rebloomers get extra water that the other bearded iris don't need. We keep
ours in a separate bed with soaker hoses. We have regular rebloom there on
'Low Ho Silver', Rosalie Figge', 'Witch of Endor', 'Forever Blue', and many
others.
There are always a few "stragglers" who bloom in the Fall no matter where
they are: SDB 'Smell The Roses' is one. Doesn't seem to matter whether they
get water or not!
Bob Skaggs, who lives only 10 miles from here, gives his rebloomers no extra
water, and has massive rebloom on 'Iris Chant', 'Twilight Fancies',
'Masterwork', 'Champagne Encore', 'Gladiatrix', 'First Sensation', October Splendor',
'Daughter of Stars" and many others.
Our local folks are putting together an rebloom article for AIS Bulletin and
Reblooming Iris this fall, updating an article that Barbara Perry Lawton
wrote for the Brooklyn Botanical Garden publication this spring.
