My irises are growing buds!

This morning I was amazed to see that my German batik irises potted in potting
soil are growing buds.  The only things I did this spring was to pull out the
groundcover and to make sure their tubers were exposed to the sun.  They have
a lot of leaves this year too.  Now that this miracle has occurred, what
should I do to keep them healthy this year besides watering them?
