Hi all,
Most of the even pretty simple digital cameras have
some way to turn on a "close focus" choice -- my
little bitsy cheap digital has this as, you press a
button and a flower icon appears, which means it's
planning on focusing on something close, like a
tag or a flower. This helps when taking pics of
a label (and of the flower). My regular digital
I think also has this as a flower icon.
You know, often cameras have a series of choices, like
flower icon -- close up
head icon -- photo of person's face
person icon -- person
mountain icon -- gigantic mountains!
galaxy icon! now we're getting carried away!
Sometimes I've carried around small white index
cards and a Sharpie black marker -- you rewrite the
cultivar name on the card, and put it where the
hard to read label is, then photograph. You can fold
the index card in half, and write on all 4 sections
if you write lightly.
For "we've traveled a long way to see these iris and
we really want to accurately label the photos" times,
I'll take photos AND friend Jean will also record in
a steno pad. And I do photo the iris label first,
then
the cultivar.
We just saw Bluebird Haven Iris Garden Sunday,
and it was neat since because bloom times have been
wacky all over, we saw some in bloom we'd never
seen in bloom before.
