'Caliente' smells like root beer as well. 'Orange Popsicle', just like the name, color to match. 'Light Beam', lemony vanilla, like fresh waffle cones. William A. Setchel - licorice (but I personally haven't smelled that one.) Google iris and various fragrances and you will fine a few lists. -----Original Message----- >From: Gesine Lohr <gesine.lohr@gmail.com> >Sent: May 17, 2010 11:15 PM >To: iris@hort.net, Gesine Lohr <gesine.lohr@gmail.com>, Jean Richter <richter@eecs.berkeley.edu> >Subject: [iris] HIST - Iris fragrance in old iris > >Iris fragrance -- get some historic iris! > >Don't have time right now, but some oldies smell like grape soda, some like >root beer, >some like other neat things. > >I think I. pallida is one, 'Alcazar' smells like root beer. > >see >www.hips-roots.com >HIPS (Historic Iris Preservation Society) > >Gesine >(Roots editor for HIPS) > >************* >Interesting topic this morning.
