Thanks Tom. That's the route I've been trying to take to incorporate modern traits into the more retro lines, but with 1) a couple of seedlings from DECADENCE open right now, both with pollen, neither as nicely formed as D,
2) barely a smidge of the other 'blood' I want, &
3) with so much loss of bloom this year,
I was considering crossing the two, just to see if I could get back something with most of D's good genes but better adapted to my growing conditions.

But that would take at least two generations & time's going by awfully fast these days. :-( Efficiency only works when the irises cooperate, so I may just have to let go the idea of getting D into the mix, unless something comes from one of the older seedlings that include some of the other genes I want. Getting awfully hot and dry for successful crosses anyway.
