Well, that is an interesting point as well. I crossed 'Crackling Caldera' with 'Light Beam' and an orange carotenoid plicata sdlg. of mine. Both 'Light Beam' and the seedling have pale anthocyanin plicata hafts. The seedlings obtained were all orange to orange-yellow blends, one pink, two white. Some have no anthycyanin at all. Some of the 'Light Beam' sdlgs. have a uniform anthocyanin flush on standards and tint on the falls. Nothing I would call plicata except maybe one that has a darker haft wash along with the tint. I didn't expect any carotenoid stippling. I planned to have to do sib crosses to get it back. I did get one sdlg. with some carotenoid plicata stippled hafts along with the 'Crackling Caldera' carotenoid border. -----Original Message----- >From: Chuck Chapman <irischapman@aim.com> >Sent: May 25, 2013 1:09 PM >To: iris@hort.net >Subject: Re: [iris] HYB 'Crackling Caldera' > >I don't see anything in pedigree that would suggest that it is a >glaciata.
