Experiment. Go look at other iris gardens and see if there are iris that
seem to be doing well with some shade. I have one small bed that gets very
little direct sun that I am experimenting with. A few varieties bloom
reasonably well there and every year I try a few more. Carribean Dream seems
to be doing ok there so far. Except for this year, Blitz has done extremely
well.
