Just want to make you folks aware of this opportunity...
Immediately following the AIS convention we invite the conventioneers to
plan to drop by and have a picnic with us amongst what else but tons of
iris! Read on... maybe this will work into your plans if you are
driving to and from the convention... just a slight detour... check your
roadmap, any excuse at all will do. Hope to meet some of you there.
CIS Annual Picnic
The annual picnic will be held this year on June 8, 1997, 12:30 p.m. at
McMillen's Iris Garden near Norwich, Ontario. All CIS/AIS members are
welcome to attend this event. Also we invite those folks that are on
their way home from the AIS convention in the Detroit area to stop by
and picnic with us as well as check out more iris! If you are driving to
and from the convention maybe try to work it into the itinerary. It
would be about a 3 hour drive from the Detroit convention to the picnic.
Might work out well for you. Come by if you can and please feel very
welcome to join in.
The picnic will be pot luck of your choice to be shared with the group
(examples: casserole, salad, desert, sandwiches) Please bring your own
lawn chairs, picnic blanket, eating utensils and plates. McMillens will
supply the cold drink, coffee and the flowers to look at!
As usual (if the iris co-operate!) there likely will be an outstanding
display to observe in the garden. The display beds behind the house have
been renovated three years ago so the iris there should be putting on a
real good show with third year clumps. Look carefully and there is bound
to be something new to discover and see.
Instructions to get to McMillen's; From HWY 401, take HWY 59 south to
Holbrook, Then County Road 13 south to North Norwich Road #5, turn left
(east) go 1/2 mile and McMillen's is the third house on the right side
