Re: SIB: Buds visible/ Bloom sequence 1997

Mark Cook in Zone 5/6 observed:

<<This evening when planting some newly arrived beardless Iris plants, I
noticed that the Siberian Iris MARANATHA has several well advanced buds.
It looks as though it could possibly beat the TB Irises into bloom. This
is rather unusual as the SDB Irises are still blooming heavily.>>

I went over to a friend's place a few days ago to get a slip off her Mme.
Alfred Carriere rose to root and to check on the numerous fabulous irises I
have so generously thrust upon her, and in one area of less than 400 square
feet she has siberians, tectorums, cristata, pallida and a TB in bloom. She
gets southern exposure with some ambient shadows and a little high shade, and
gardens on heavy red clay. Microclimate of zone 8, rather than our official
7, I would guess. Everything looked real good, too.
