Sharlyn and Steven, As I read your comments on the giant iris, I was
thinking they probably live along the California coast. Sure enough you
do. I have seen this condition several times in Santa Cruz California.
The humidity and temperature is such that the flowers swell up into
balloons. The flowers can become so large and gorgeous, they are almost
unrecognizable. When entered in an iris show with normal blooms, there
is no contest. They will win every time. Unfortunately, we are too far
from the ocean (25 minutes) to EVER see this condition in San Jose.
