Hi Kali;
Welcome to the iris-L. Please don't complain about the slow progress of
your plants in Michigan. Here in Oregon, we are having a quick and
unexpected heat wave, which blows the irises really quickly. They can be
here and gone in several days, instead of lasting for weeks. At this
precise moment, we have something of just about everything blooming all
at the same time. This means that we won't have some stuff to admire
later. When it comes all at once this way, there is just too much to
look at, as well as get the work done in the garden. After this year, I
will really be happy that we are cutting way down this summer. At
present count, we have somewhere in the neighbourhood of 25oo varieties.
The challenge will be trying to get the number down into the 3 digit
area, or somewhere even close.
Anyhow, many of us are looking forward to coming to Michigan as of the
3rd of June for the annual National American Iris Society Convention.
Are you aware of this convention? Quite a number of the people you see
listed on here from time to time will be attending. You might want to
consider checking out the cost of registration, etc., amd meeting a
bunch of us there. Just don't wish too hard for incredible weather,
until a little closer to convention date, and then you can wish with all
your might, so our three days of garden tours will be truly spectacular.
If you wish any more info about the convention, there are a number of
local involved people on this list, and any of the rest of us are always
willing to jump in and hopefully help out. Just ask. Talk to you later.
Nancy Silverberg,
Molalla, Oregon, where Spring is the most amazing thing to happen every
year, and I love the iris even more this year than ever before!!!
