CULT: Pods, short stalks

Jana,
Welcome to the Iris List. There is no such thing as a silly question.
That is what we are here for: To help each other out. That is a seed pod
that forms where the bloom was. If you let it ripen, then remove it and
break it open, you should find it full of seeds. If you wish to grow
Irises from seed, plant the seeds, not the pod. There are some experienced
Hybridizers on board that should be able to help you further with this.
Several things can cause an Iris to bloom at the bottom of the fan.
Newly planted ones will do this on occasion. Also, late freezes can make
some varieties to this. Abnormally dry weather can cause it too.
