Sorry Rick. Let me correct that. My name is Diana Winship from
Richardson, Texas (a Dallas suburb) I've gone to each Convention since
Portland, and have enjoyed meeting everyone. You are all some of the
nicest people around. You have to be - you grow flowers. Now about
me. I started in the A.I.S. in 1993 with only about 12 iris. I now
have just over 900 varieties. I don't have a LARGE yard, but then, I
don't have a large amount of grass either if you know what I mean. I
have two Labs that know to KEEP OUT of the gardens. I can remember
irises in my great-great grandmothers yard, and since my parents were in
the Air Force, every time we were transfered, we always dug up some and
moved them with us.

I became interested in Medians year before last, and have started an
extensive collection of them. Fortunately, our bloom season was great
this year, and Mesmerizer started blooming when some of the medians were
still going strong. I would love to get a line for SDB's with spoons &
flounces going. I believe George Sutton is also working in this
direction. (Hi George & Margaret.) My STINGER has won best SDB
everytime I have shown it. It's quite a little go-getter. It would be
something with flounces and spoons. My favorites are the bicolors and
bitones. I have been described by friends as a "Colorful" person, Tom
Burseen says "I'm never at a loss for words". But then, what Iris
enthusiast is? My other half only tolerates my passion for the garden,
if I promise to leave some grass so that he can remember what it looks
like. I haven't told him yet about the new bed going in on the other
side of the house this summer. (If you don't hear from me later this
year, come looking for me underground). Oh well, that's what he gets
for not doing the yard work around here. Ha Ha.

Bloom season was fantastic this year. Hope it's just as pretty in 2000
for the Convention. I am the Boutique Chariperson for it, and would
appreciate any suggestions as to what ya'll liked in the previous ones,
and what you would like to see in them. I'm sure the other Convention
boutiques would be just as interested. Let us know.
Thanks for all the information everyone is sharing for us newcomers to
learn.

Diana
