>Gosh, I never thought much about THAT interplanting, because that's done a
lot around here! My primary interest is the TBs; the yellow daylilies were
just added to continue some color during the summer. I mulch with something
called "Gorilla Hair"(!) which is shredded redwood bark, and water during
our hot summers because of the number of rebloomers in the bed.
You also said: "The subject of overseeding iris for color later on is a good
one and perhaps more will be volunteered here."
Earlier this year I put in plants of one variety of nicotiana, some diascia
(pretty pink flowers), babiana bulbs, some interesting species geraniums
with small pink flowers, veronica "Georgia Blue", a pink verbena which I
expect to form a mulch/mat, and at the shady end some coral bells. Also
planted early this spring, the bed is backed (between the bed and the west
wall of the house) with two Chitalpa trees (pink blossoms in the spring), an
Indigo Spires salvia, a yellow flax and a pink buddliea. I would be
interested in taking out some of the yellow daylilies that are not as
attractive as some of the others and replacing them with pink daylilies.
Thanks for your comments!
