others include the name of the hybridizer or introducer when they mentioned
a particular iris my reaction was somewhat along the lines of "My, they
really know a lot about iris! I could never remember all that!"
By now, at least I know that Shreiner's is a name to remember for blue irises.
For the last few years I have gone up to Riverside to the Cal-Dixie garden
in the spring to look at the iris in bloom and feel that they have already
gotten their iris acclimated to our hot, dry summer climate, no matter where
they came from originally.
I'll remember the Byers name and pay more attention!
Just received the Stockton catalog today and was reminded again how
inaccurately blues photograph -- also saw some very interesting iris of
other colors that almost made me change my mind about color purchases!
