Celia,
John Jones was right about using what I would call an off the shelf program
vs. a database designed by a programmer to perform specific functions. I
am currently developing a personal database to help me catalog my iris
collection and photos. I'm using a very simple and flexible database
program called FileMaker Pro for Windows by Claris. This program was
initially written for the Macintosh and I can run my database on either a
Mac or a Windows PC if I choose. I can print labels, inventories, and find
and sort my irises by any combination of the information which I have the
patience to enter. I just added the photo field yesterday and I can now
toggle between all of the info on an iris and its associated photo.
Everyone should use what works for them, but it's nice when you don't have
to re-invent the wheel. Enough computer talk, back to irises.
I have a clump (8 stalks) of DARK CRYSTAL (SDB) in bloom - just when I
thought it was finished. I also have JEWEL BABY (SDB) in bloom, still!!!!
ENGLISH COTTAGE is still going strong as well with two stalks. My clump of
BEFORE THE STORM is opening it's last of 3 stalks. It seems odd that the
SDB, DARK CRYSTAL will probably be my last iris of the season to bloom.
