I have not overwintered iris in pots, yet but plan to try some this
year. But I did overwinter two plants in plastic pots (clay cracks
here because of our severe climate and chips fall off, etc.) thinking
I would 'kill' them but alas, they survived. They were picked up at
the Maine Iris Society's swap last August by my husband (he just
grabbed anything off the table and patently ignored my
instructions. :-))
These plants were not mulched and I placed them on the front patio
(the worst weather here) and they came through strong and hardy.
