Hi Rusty;
Welcome to the Iris-L. If you are a little bit crazy like some of us,
you will fit in fine. If you are really nuts (about irises) then THIS IS
THE PLACE. Since you are from the Ft. Worth area, I suggest you contact
Joe and Donna Spears, in Argyle Texas. They have a garden called Argyle
Acres, at 910 Pioneer Circle East, Argyle TX 76226-6714. Their phone
number is 817-464-3680 but you probably know the area code will change
to 940 on the 25th of May. They grow over 1300 varieties of new and old
irises, and are also active in the Ft. Worth Iris Society, which meets
on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Ft. Worth Botanic
Centre. Why don't you contact the Spears, and see if you can attend a
meeting as a guest? I am sure the club would be delighted to have a new
member. There will be a major convention in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in
the year 2000, and any club can always use new and enthusiastic members
to help ensure the success of such a venture. Take the plunge!! All the
best,
Nancy Silverberg,
Molalla, OR where the TB's are trying their best to bloom out before our
show next week, due to this heat.
