TB: Bloom

Hi Everyone!

The first TB of the year bloomed here today - the old, sunfast, bright
yellow FOXFIRE (E. Fox, 53). I have a large patch of this planted in my
"Roughneck" border, which I intentionally filled with aggressive, robust
plants that can out compete the weeds in a difficult area of my garden.
Speaking of "companion" plants, FOXFIRE's nearest neighbors are Oriental
poppy (the original flaming orange variety), which becomes a weed around
here if given half a chance, and common milkweed, which is a weed, but I
tolerate it in this bed with some restrictions. FOXFIRE is not only holding
its own in this company, but is spreading at the expense of the milkweed
and was encroaching so much on the spuria CLARK COSGROVE that I had to
remove several clumps (of FF) last summer. FOXFIRE does not have purple
based foliage, but it does have the most intensely glaucous (blue-green)
foliage of any TB I grow.
