You need not fear flaming here. People are nice here and will help you if
they can. Sometimes nobody has an answer to your question. I personally
think the system works best when everyone remembers that they are speaking in
an uninflected language when they post and that they can be misunderstood
easily. I find it is really important to read carefully. I also try to read
all the new postings on the same thread before answering any in case prior
postings cast light on the subsequent ones.
Now, the Iris-l Archives, which are simply transcripts of past postings which
you can sort and browse by author, date or thread (subject), are found at
[http.www.mallorn.com/lists/]. There are other neat things archived there as
well. Navigation is a little rough and there is a lot of information, but you
can sort by thread and scan pretty easily. If you loose this address you can
always find it and a whole slew of interesting information about irises and
about the Iris-l at the page Tom Tadfor Little, our list-owner,
maintains.Try:[http://www.rt66.com/~telp/il_about.htm]. It is really good to
read this over occasionally anyway. Lots of answers here!
There is a whopping big lot of good information on the web. Some of the iris
pages are among the best pages of all, and they are linked, so you can have a
wonderful time surfing and learning. I've learned a whole lot and enjoyed
every minute of it. If you haven't already do so, you might start at The Home
Page for Irises address I mentioned, which is:
A good standard book about all kinds of irises which you would enjoy is the
World of Irises published by the American Iris Society. However, I would
wait a bit before actually ordering it since there may be delays in shipping
for a little while. This should be fixed in a couple of months. Play on the
web for now! And the Achives!
