Variegated Evansia

Today, while at a perennial gardener/seller's, I stumbled onto a nice
little one gallon pot of a variegated iris which I suspect is either a
variegated foliage cristata or tectorum. The more I think about it, the
size and texture of the leaf matched I. cristata rather than tectorum, but
it was growing in a greenhouse so it was hard to tell if the growth was
typical.

Overjoyed with my find, I immediately offered to purchase a small piece
from the pot. I was then told that I could have the whole pot for the
bargain basement price of $1.00. The proprietor then pointed to hanging
baskets of the stuff overhead in the greenhouse and said it grew like
crazy, but never had bloomed for him.

I also purchased a gallon pot of I. fulva, some fulva seedlings, a
buddleia, and a he threw in a gallon of Bletillas (terrestrial orchids) all
for a grand total of $4.00!! This is my kind of perennial nursery. He
probably won't be in business very long at these prices.:)

-Donald (happy with new plants! Now where to plant them?)
