JI's: Yea, Nay, or throw away?

Donald,
Definite keepers are 'Chigokesho', 'Rose Queen' and 'Japanese Sandman'.

I was expounding on the beauty and performance of 'Chigokesho' (Seto
'39) at the beardless show in Dover, DE last year. One of the exhibitors
had never heard of it and went to a pocket reference to look it up. She
then came back with, "But that's so OLD." I responded that I really hope
that when I get that old, I'm not considered unfit for the garden.

Unlike the TB's, Japanese iris take a while to establish into robust
clumps. I would not throw away any selection until I had evaluated it in
my garden for 3 to 4 years. Usually, it is worth the wait.
