Rima,
Slugs or snails can cause the holes here on the west coast. Do you have
slugs/snails there? Are you sure the purple you speak about is not
"purple based foilage"? You do know that some iris have this genetic
flush from the rhizome up the leaves and can vary in different
cultivars?
Anyway, if it is slugs/snails then look for Slug/snail bait and not
Cygon.
