birdseed. Years ago, I used to keep a feeder full of these & the
scattered shells killed all the vegetation beneath the feeder, including
the most persistant grass & weeds! I quit filling up that feeder except
in the depths of winter partly for that reason, but also because it
occurred to me that I was merely fattening up and slowing down the birds
& squirrels that fed there -- making them an even easier target for my
cat(s)!
