Cult - New Iris

Help, I'm new to the internet and to iris growing.  A friend just gave
me six tall bearded iris divisions (no species identified)that are in
bud.  I realize the best time to move and/or divide is after the
flowering season.  What can I do to make sure these iris survive and
thrive.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  Steve
