Linda! Do you really drive down the highway chucking rhizomes out the
window?! My secret to finally growing Silverado is plain stubborness.
Moving it from one garden to another didn't seem to work...maybe it liked
the alfalfa meal I gave it the year it finally bloomed. It grew for
everyone else; I decided I'd plant it every year like an annual and some
year it would grow. I ordered the first plant from Wayside Gardens and they
sent it in November! I think they must have gotten it left over from
Schreiners, though the price wasn't left over! Thereafter, I ordered it
from Schreiners. Their rhizomes both looked great, but only the last one
grew. And it grows in a beautiful pattern, not all bunched together or
crossing over itself. Just seems to have to get used to your garden. Once
it does, its great. I'd suggest getting three pieces at once; one of them
should make it!
