I don't know this from personal experience, but it has been said a number of
times on the list, that if you place pollen on only one stigma, you can stil
pollenate the whole pod. That being so, you would have to do a lot of damage
to prevent pollenation. I don't think a scratch will hurt. I often tear the
stigma during pollenation, and it still takes.
