Re: CULT:In Search of "Perfect" TB Irises

From: "S&C Rust" <srust@fidnet.com>

Dear Walter!!! Since I am from Missouri, I will have to defend Everything
Plus. Every single person in our club grows it, and two or three years ago,
it won Queen of Show. The stalk was so thick and it had so many branches
and perfect open blooms that it had to be placed in a juice bottle!
Whenever it blooms in our garden, (which is every year, but sometimes too
early for the show) it has perfect branching and it is very distinctive
amongst plicatas (but we love Jessie's Song and think it is distinctive,
too), as a neglecta plicata. We never have to coddle it or Jessie's Song,
and can pick either of them out of any group of plicatas you care to
assemble! We do also have little Swerti and like it too. Plicatas were my
first favorite color. We still like Stepping Out very much, it often wins
Queen of Show too. It also, is very distinctive, and never gets lost in the
look alike plicata crowd. Another old plicata we like is Crinoline. It is
a pinkish plicata and has been blooming for weeks through many storms and
still looks good. Again, it is easy to pick out of the crowd. Other
favorite plicatas we can't part with include Belvi Queen, Autumn Circus,
Power Surge and Bountiful Harvest; but the most beautiful, though not as
good a grower, is Snowbrook.
