Hello Iris Talkers,
Southern Kentucky Iris Society had their show today. Conjuration won again.
Lovely horns were present--on all the falls of the terminal and bottom
blooms. However, the middle bloom had no horns. At least, each bloom was
consistent within itself. You have to give the kid credit. It always blooms
tall, the blooms are well placed on the stalk, and it opens three blooms
easily.
In our area, anything with three blooms can beat anything with two blooms
without regard to the quality of the blooms. The queens table rarely has an
iris with less than three blooms.
I had no dog in this race. The weather cooled the last couple of days and
stopped Edith W and Good Vibrations dead in their tracks--I have no patience
with heat lamps or hot water treatments, anymore. For the first time in
years, I viewed the show totally as a spectator.
